Not in a position to oblige...
by: Darlene Barriere - Webmaster

Between Canada and the USA, there must be several classes doing research and reports on various types of child abuse. Your request is in the neighbourhood of the 48th I've received in one form or another over the past 2 weeks.

There aren't enough hours in the day for me to provide such answers. Nor am I in the habit of doing homework for students; you would benefit greatly from doing your own.

The answers to many of your questions can be found throughout the pages on this website. You need only refer to the navigation bar on the left to find those information pages. I ask that you observe any and all copyright laws and to ensure that any statistics you use from the site are accompanied with the numbered references that you'll find at the bottom of any page with statistical data. As for the rest of the answers to your questions, consider what you've learned in your class and refer to your library.

I wish you all the best with regard to your assignment.

This site is chock-full of child abuse information. I have personally written in excess of 30 child abuse articles for this site. My visitors have contributed many of their own guest articles and commentaries, also on this site. Further to that, there are well over 400 true child abuse stories written by people varying in age from 11 to 80; all of which have valuable comments attached that could be useful to your project. Go to my Sitemap page for an A - Z listing. Indeed, that sitemap page will lead you to a host of information pages on this site.

As I said in my comments above, please be cognizant of copyright laws, and references associated with any and all statistics that appear throughout this site.

Good luck with your paper.

Child Abuse Questions
by: Anonymous

Hi I'm a Highschool student, doing a report/ research paper on child abuse and I was wondering if you would be able to answer some questions that I have, hopefully I get to hear back from you ASAP. I really appreciate you taking the time to read these questions, your answers don't have to be very long, a few sentences should be good.

1. At what age do you believe a child is susceptible to abuse?

2. Who usually neglects and abuses these children?

3. Are victims of child abuse more likely to engage in criminality later in life?

4. If a child has been sexually abused how likely is it that they will become and abuser?

5. Which gender is more susceptible to a certain type of abuse?

6.When dealing with child abuse cases in your line of work, are the majority of you patients male?

***From Darlene Barriere - Webmaster*** I've moved your query to this thread because my reply is the same as the reply I've given here.

child becoming an abuser?
by: Anonymous

If a child has been sexually abused how likely is it that they will become and abuser?

***From Darlene Barriere - Webmaster*** This is the 2nd request for information from you that I suspect is a part of your paper. This thread clearly identifies my position on doing homework for students. I suggest you read through the various statistics pages on this site. You can find those pages on my sitemap page on this site, specifically at Sitemap: Child Abuse Stats.

Your work
by: Anonymous

In your line of work, do you get more male victims of abuse approach you or are females more willing to approach you and talk about the abuse they've suffered?

***From Darlene Barriere - Webmaster*** This is the 3rd query you've sent me in the name of getting information for your paper. I gather by now you understand my position.

But I must clear up a couple of misunderstandings. I am not a doctor, therefore, I do not see "patients." I operate exclusively through my website. This is not a "line of work" for me. All that I do with regard to child abuse and providing education is on my own free time. Although I am a certified violence and abuse prevention educator, I gave up my volunteer work with the Canadian Red Cross last year in favour of dedicating my volunteer time to this website. This volunteer time is often in excess of 80 hours per week; I ask that you please be respectful of my time and honour the the fact that I do not provide answers students for the purpose of research, projects, assignments, reports, or papers. I thank you in advance for your cooperation.
