 YES, people to need to know this...

Thank you for sharing this information with my visitors and me. Before I comment further, I will point out that this site posts stories by the people who choose to send them. I do not actively seek out stories of any particular type of abuse. And with my very busy schedule, traveling and touring, I can no longer write articles for my site or answer visitor questions as I have been able to in the past.

You will find some information about residential schools on this site in a couple of places. One was an article I wrote immediately following Prime Minister Stephen Harper's apology in June 2008 (see Aboriginal Child Abuse in Residential Schools - An Apology). Though not in depth in the way your thoughtful article is presented, it does address the effects the residential abuse had on entire peoples. Other information can be found in various comments throughout the 5000 pages on this site. I agree that more about this issue needs to get out to the general public. But I am only one person. I openly and graciously invite you to contribute through my child abuse articles/news page. As I now typically have 40 or 50 visitor submissions in queue at any given time, it can take upwards of 3 ? 4 weeks to post.

That is true. My mom was in a boarding school until the age of 16 years old. She is a survior.
This isn't to long ago. People need to realize what Our people went through. Abuse has happen to us for many years and not to long ago. We are the forgotten people (Native Americans) in the united states. for the Sarcastic people that say they are also native because they were born here in the untied states, I'm talking about Indigenous peoples to our land here in the United States. The first people here. My mom is in her Mid 50's. so that isn't to long ago.
