Outstanding!

You give excellent advice, Sue. You're a great friend and humanitarian; you care so deeply. Perhaps the plight of abused children will move you to a career that includes helping children. You certainly are off to an impressive start.

You are brave
by: Francine

Good job, Sue! You and your mom saved your friend from her father! I'm also glad that she lives in a safe place now. You are a hero, Sue.

It's just not that easy

You sound like a very intelligent young person. You did a very brave thing. The problem is that a lot of us don't have a loving environment to go to when we are taken from our abusers.

My abuse was considered by counselors as severe, horrendous, and torture. One threat my parents used was that if I told anyone I would get sent to a foster home. They told me that in foster homes they rape you, beat you, starve you, and take away your underwear (my mother had spent some time in a foster home as a child so I believed it). I was already dealing with all of the above but I did have my own underwear. It was, for me, a lesser evil to just keep my mouth shut. A lot of people knew I was being abused but without my word no one could do anything about it. I had every classic sign.

I wish there was an answer for everyone. I am working on a cure. I am getting my degree, I broke the cycle, and when I am finished with my degree, I plan to rally for abused victims rights.
