Not only was your aunt complicit, so was your mother. Yes, I see that she played the game in a way that would ensure she got to keep custody of her children. But it was at the cost of you. She did nothing to stop the abuse being doled out by her sister and her brother-in-law. She let it all happen. And yes, I can well imagine what her own childhood was like for her to have ended up in such an abusive relationship with your father, and then to have 6 children to look after by herself. That doesn't excuse her for the choices she made that put you all at risk, and in particular, you. I bring this up because it's important that you process all your emotions of betrayal and abandonment in order for your healing to begin. I'm not saying that she knew your uncle was sexually abusing you. I'm saying that it was clear that there was physical abuse going on and yet she did nothing, except put you at further risk. She probably did believe she was giving you a better chance than she had, but it doesn't change the fact that she sent you there fully aware of the physical abuse. It's what you do now that's important. You can't change what happened to you. And to cling to the anger and hostility will only serve to keep YOU imprisoned, something that you don't, and never did, deserve. I send you love, light and healing energy, Aimee. Thank you for sharing your story with my visitors and me.
