Congrats on being clean and sober!
by: Darlene Barriere - Webmaster

Patina, as deeply disturbing as the image you included is, it certainly DOES scream of pain, pain that child abuse survivors around the world can relate to. You yourself went along a destructively painful path in order to cope with the residual pain of abuse, but you found a way to pull yourself out of the depths and into the light of healing. I applaud and congratulate you. You are a strong person; of that there is no doubt. Thank you for sharing your story with my visitors and me. And for giving so many the hope that they can aspire to a better life for themselves. You're living proof that it can be done. Stay clean, stay sober...and you WILL make the best of your life.

Stay clean, stay sober, Patina Thank You
by: Muarice

The truth will set us free, once we cop that using alcohol/drugs to ease the pain of abuse in our life we have crossed into the known fact that we are free to move on in our own right as to the great and wonderful person I am. Patina Thank you, Drugs/Alcohol dim the brain, blots out the reality of having been abused. We have the scars mental or physical of those terrible times in our innocent and vunerable years of childhood/teenage and adolecent years. They remain no matter how much we drink/drug ourselves. fool ourselves for the period of false self help by blotting out our abuse during our drinking and druging episodes. You know Patina. I know Patina that abuse remains etched on our minds and sometimes bodies. Only when we sober up and say NO to that way of dealing with our abuse. When we can really pitch ourselves and feel the pain than we know we are human, beautiful and worth Hugging and loving and seeing ourselves as we really are in the mirror. I love my mirror image, I hope patina now you can begin to love yourself with the help of your friends who love and respect you for who you are NOW not from where you came from. Be Brave, be strong and stay with getting to know the beautiful and real you. Be true to yourself. let go and live the now time of your life to the full each day you wake up.
