It sounds as though everyone has let you down. But there is something you must understand about prosecutors...they will never try a case they cannot win. That doesn't seem fair, but that's the reality of it. The fact that your grandparents knew where you were and chose to leave you there rather than take on their responsibility as your guardians is very disturbing. There's something not right about all of that; it may even be that your grandparents had all along intended that you be with your father. But if you want more legal advice on your case, I suggest you seek out the opinion of an attorney. I also strongly recommend that you seek out more counseling in order to help you deal with the repercussions of coming from abuse at the hands of both your father and step mother, and of the aftermath of all that you've now learned about your circumstances. What I will say is this: If you see yourself as a victim, you will stay a victim; but if you see yourself as a survivor, you BE and live your life as a survivor.
