Thank you for sharing your story with my visitors and me. None of what happened was your fault. None of it. Your grandfather had all the power and he misused that power. He took advantage of your vulnerabilities and used it against you. If this was your maternal grandfather, it is quite likely that he also molested your mother, which could explain (not excuse, but explain) why she was so heavily into drugs and alcohol. Just know that not all men are like your grandfather. But in order to begin to trust, you must get help for yourself. I hope that kind of help is available to you.

You are not alone

Kayleigh, I believe you! I went through years of sexual abuse by my father. It was terrible and I also thought that people would blame me. You are strong but you need help to deal with what happened. I finally started feeling better after I went to an incest therapy group. I found out that many, many people have had this happen and it was a big help because feeling alone with it is part of the problem. Good luck!
