Katie, I'm so glad you received therapy for what Derek did to you and your sister. I'm also glad to learn that you had the support of your parents. Both were critical to your well-being.

As Derek's release date nears, you might find that emotions resurface. If so, I recommend revisiting your therapist for additional help.

I just wanted to say that I think it's great that you told someone about the abuse because very few people do. You sound very strong and to be able to come on here and tell your story is just inspirational. I agree that you should maybe go to therapy as a lot of your old feelings will probably come back.

I wish you the best of luck. You will get through this.

Katie i was also sexually abused as a small child and now it to late to get "justice" for four of my abusers and i now have a child by a fifth that i can not prove was not consentual i am so proud of what you and your sister had done and i wish i did!!
