You're an exceptional friend. You're caring and compassionate; don't ever change that about your Self. You did exactly the right thing telling your parents when D disclosed to you what was happening to her. THAT'S what great friends do! It's wonderful that D is now in a safe environment.  The horror

Your story, to be honest, is a disturbing one; I'm glad your friend told because no more secrets can and will help put an end to the cycle of abuse and helplessness.

What a sad, sorry bunch they are, just for grabbing for a victim who will give them whatever they want, so they won't have to take care of themselves. It's not your friend's fault that her birth dad died and she isn't to blame for their sadistic behavior. I can only hope that they're in prison for all those sadistic crimes that they committed against her.

What she went through is awful, but the fact that her aunt CARVED the word liar into her stomach is just flat out sick. Not only that I'm willing to bet she still has the scar to remind her of it which probably doesn't help any. So glad she has such good friends like you to step in and save her.
