Child abuse in its many forms leaves scars that last a lifetime. As a child, you had no choice in what was happening in your home; as an adult, you now have choices. You can choose to get help for yourself. You can choose how you are going to respond to virtually anything that comes up in your life. Sometimes the choice must be to distance yourself from the person who did the abusing because that person continues to abuse in some way, or because it's too unhealthy to keep exposing yourself to the person. Please consider some form of counseling in order to help you through the turmoil and effects of coming from an abusive environment. You're certainly worth that kind of help. Thank you for sharing your story with my visitors and me.
