 Such cruelty...

Jilbert, you lived in a hate-filled and prejudiced country whose teachers encouraged rejection, isolation and physical harm at the hands of your school peers. Then, if this emotional abuse from your teachers and the severe bullying you endured day after day from your schoolmates wasn't enough, the further malicious cruelty you faced directly at the hands of the teachers must have been unbearable. It is no wonder you would want to vomit at the thought of having to go to school each day. To be beaten anywhere on the body is excruciating; to be beaten on the bottom of the feet is nothing short of torture. A society that accepts such barbaric forms of child "discipline" is a society that has no regard for the well-being of their most vulnerable. Such harsh forms of "discipline" only serves to turn defenseless children into angry, hostile, often self-destructive adults; many of whom go on to perpetrate the same callous abuse, either (or both) in their own homes or as teachers themselves.

The devastation you must have felt when you arrived in Canada, expecting to be treated with dignity and respect, expecting to be accepted as you were, only to discover that you would have to endure more of the same bullying behaviours you had so gratefully managed to escape from in Saudi Arabia...my heart bleeds for the precious little boy who so desperately wanted to be accepted. Bullying leaves such deep scars.

I'm delighted that you are in therapy. With therapy, perhaps you'll come to understand that you didn't deserve to be mistreated by your teachers and your peers, that you didn't deserve to be shunned and beaten. When you come to understand that what you DESERVED was dignity and respect, perhaps you will treat yourself with better regard, perhaps you will cease with your destructive and risky behaviours. Treat YOURSELF better than anyone ever has. You're worth it, Jilbert.

i am so sorry that happened to you. I know it could be a torture to be rejected and discriminated as a child. I just want to ask you to please not think bad of all Muslims because some of them were so unfair to you. Coming from a country like lebonanon, it would have been very difficult to fit in Saudi Arabia. But i really hope that you don't hate all Muslims because of that. Again i am sorry that happened, and i hope you find in your heart the strength to overcome all your fears. take cares.
