Based on what you wrote here, saying that CPS has done nothing isn't quite the case. They did do an investigation, but if your son won't tell them what he's experiencing at the hands of his father, and they don't find evidence when they do a visit, then their hands are tied. They haven't been able to do what you want them to do because of the laws. I can only imagine how frustrating it is to have to repeatedly bring your son back to his abusive father, and how frustrating the system is when they expect a small child to talk while under fear and duress. Until the system changes, that's what we're left with. Empower your son. Teach him what he needs to know in order to deal with certain situations he finds himself in when he is with his drug-using father. But mostly, when he's with you, keep his schedule as routine as possible. When your son see how upset you are about this situation, he takes in on him Self. He blames him Self. No matter what you tell him to try and convince him that he's not to blame or at fault, he will always believe he is the cause of your pain. Contact Child Help at 1-800-4-A-CHILD (1-800-422-4453) in order to talk to someone. They are staffed 24/7 with professionally trained counsellors who will listen to you, even as a parent. Keep working to protect your son, Billie. He needs you now more than ever. I send you and Cody love, light and healing energy. Thank you for sharing yours and Cody's story with my visitors and me.

Look into aquiring a Child Advocate through the Texas (whatever city it is) court system. He needs someone else on his side.

Call the number Darlene suggested. And do NOT call CPS. They are overworked....call the POLICE. Often police will see what CPS does not. Especially drug paraphenalia.

Counseling will be necessary for your son. I hope you can get someone legally on your side soon. Tell your son he has to be brave and be honest with the state workers.
