 Sexual "imprinting"...

Anonymous, you've clearly shown how witnessing family violence can severely affect a child. Fetishes are not at all uncommon in such situations as you've described. You experienced terrorizing as you witnessed your mother being beaten at the hands of your father; of course there would be serious effects from that. It comes as no great surprise that as a child, you would equate the beatings with what your mother was wearing; and that further along, as you matured, that your body misinterpreted your feelings of anxiety as feelings of sexual stimulation. After all, these feelings affect the same areas of the body in similar ways: It is perfectly natural for a young male to experience an erection when he is scared, anxious or nervous. Therefore, it is not at all uncommon for experiences such as these to become a sexual "imprint" on the child. But then you've had enough counselling to understand this; I've focused on this element of your story in order to help my visitors understand what can be very difficult to comprehend.

And just for the record, I don't see your childhood any more "warped" as you put it than any other on this site. MANY child abuse survivors exhibit fetishes as a result of what they endured; however, few care to or dare to admit it. I thank you for sharing your story with such honesty.
