 Society "accepts" this form of violence against children...

Anonymous, you asked: "If it [spanking] wasn't really abusive, though, why did it affect me in such a deleterious way?"

Your story illustrates all too well the adverse effects of spanking a child, especially spanking in anger. Society in general accepts this form of violence against children, in the name of correction and discipline. But the price of this "accepted" method of correction is a very high one. All too often, adults brush off the negative effects of spanking with statements such as: "The child was just too sensitive" or "That's just all part of the punishment; spankings are supposed to hurt and humiliate for them to work." If parents were willing to question this form of discipline and then really and truly look at the results, they might be surprised to discover that spanking is one of the least effective forms of discipline they can use. While it may have the effect of stopping the misbehavior in the immediate moment, the residual feelings of hostility, anger, and resentment left in the child often result in repeated misbehavior, rather than less. Studies repeatedly show that other non-violent, non-emotionally abusive forms of discipline are every bit as effective at halting misbehavior, without the added harmful consequences. But as long as society continues to accept spanking as an acceptable form of discipline for children, society will continue to have to deal with the long term consequences.

 classroom spankings

my story is under scott from nova scotia canada.the spankings i describe were real.they happened just as i wrote.let me tell you this mister,i know exactly how you feel.those panic attacks i have are debilitating.public humiliation is a risk i rarely take.i dont trust people,authority figures,suffer from rage. and im better now.i dont drink so much.no drugs.just the memories,wont go away.some things hurt more that a spanked bottom.i want to know do others have this common school experience.and i dont want to hear this fantisy garbage from perverts. how common was bare bottom spanking in class.
