 Understandable fears...

AnnaLeigh, it is completely understandable that you would be afraid of the dark. It wouldn't surprise me to learn you have other fears as well.

I'm delighted that you are in a loving foster home now, a place to grow and develop; you certainly deserve that in your life. You DIDN'T deserve to be mistreated in any way. Nor did you deserve to witness what happened to your mother; witnessing can be 'hearing', not just 'seeing' what went on. I gather when you say "Daddy's long gone" you are saying he is in prison for his crimes, where he should be. But given the traumas you experienced—what your father did to both you and your mother—I do hope you're in some form of counselling. You deserve that kind of help, AnnaLeigh.

Oh Annaleigh my HEART GOES OUT TO YOU IN A LOVING THOUGHTFUL WAY THAT I FEEL SO PROUD OF YOU FOR REALIZIN THAT BRUTE OF A FATHER WAS NOT A GOOD PERSON TO YOU AT YOUR TENDER YEARS. GREAT NOW HE IS WELL OUT OF YOUR LIFE AND YOU CAN START LOVING THE BEAUTIFUL PERSON YOU ARE WITHIN AND WITHOUT. GREAT YOU NOW KNOW WHAT REAL LOVE OF HUMAN BEINGS IS ALL ABOUT. YOU LUCKY PERSON. I AM SO, SO HAPPY FOR THE ENDING OF THE DARKNESS OF THAT CLOSET AND THE FEAR PENETRATING YOUR INNOCENT MIND AND BODY. GREAT YOU CAN TRUST LOVING CARING ADULTS AND GOD KNOWS THERE OUT THERE ANNALEIGH. I had similar experiences to yours, and I know how you feel. I just want you to know that you ARE LOVED! People love you and care about you. It's confusing when both parents are guilty of some pretty bad things (assuming your mom cheated like mine did), and i'm guessing your dad took out the anger on you. It still hurts me to this day for everything that happened, but I know you can be strong! Thank you for sharing your experiences, and it probably feels good to get it off your chest as it does me.
