While I can understand why you would consider Stockholm Syndrome (SS) as applicable in child abuse, SS is very specific to hostage situations. With SS, the hostage not only goes along with their captors, they do so willingly and emotionally. And while there may be an argument for similar types of psychological effects, the dynamic already present with the vast majority of child abuse situations enters into the picture. Most children are abused by someone they know and trust. Someone they not only have a relationship with, but someone they depend on, and have depended on their entire lives. Most of the people who write their stories on this site are adults, some are adolescents. The reason they now question why they didn't do something is because they are applying adult, mature values to what they did or did not do as children. As children they had no power, no ability to control their circumstances, but as adults, they cannot fathom the coping skills that they adopted as children. Coping skills that might include saying and doing things they couldn't even begin to say or do as adults. In essence, they are "groomed". It's not quite the same with SS, where hostages mistake a lack of abuse as an act of kindness. I suggest two pages on my site:

Why not stop child abuse, we need better laws for children, In Ohio you can hits your child with any
inanimate ob;ect that mean any thing a lamp, wire
anything. if you keep them home and doctor them
yourself you are safe. you go to court for punching two ladies, you can get some dirt lawyer
that could care less about the children ,and you are turn in to child services by gil you are a officer of the court and the child service tell you that, the children are not dieing this the fifth time for the family, by teachers, gtl, two grandmother,

I am abused
by: Anonymous

My mother hits me. at first it was just slaps to the face when I said something I shouldn't have, as I got older it got worse. On May 6th, 2015 she choked me, hit me multiple times to the left side of my face and held me down and shook me. I feel unsafe in my own home as if I walk on eggshells around her, I've looked at the signs of Stockholm syndrome and I believe I suffer from it. I chose today to speak out against my abuser because she verbally assaulted me. When she hit me the last time I called the cops ad they didn't do anything about it and I stayed with my loving grandmother for a week before I once again had to return to "home". My father died two years ago of colon cancer, in the years he suffered from it I never once thought about committing suicide but now it is a thought that linger constantly at my mind because I feel I have no worth. I can't stress enough how bad my situation is at 16 but I will try to last longer if I can. Next time she hits me or verbally abuses me. I may just pull the trigger and end my suffering.
