Nothing condones what child abusers have done or will do. They are very weak and sick people, and in most cases just want to be abusers. All know the power in abusing another is wrong. But won't stop. I know many who have abused, religious men and women and many family members. All sweet in their own way, as if butter would not melt in their mouth's; devious out and out. In a number of cases they were abused too. This does not excuse them doing what they have done or do. The ones I respect are the ones who admit their wrong-doing and are very remorseful. The ones who still see no wrong and are in denial are the ones I have no respect for. Being of the Christian faith, that makes it very hard for me: to love one another as I have loved you.
Abuse takes many forms and today's society is full of it, lest we forget while dwelling on the past abuse in families and institutions. Teenagers are abusing each other daily by having sexual intercourse, not respecting the other. Hidden abuses of the individual who use males/females for exploitation in the sex world/pornography. How to understand the abuser and still remain silent about modern day abuse is my question.
Note from Darlene: The volume of contributor submissions has now made it impossible for me to comment personally (especially in great detail) on each and every contribution. If I haven't left you a comment or one that is in-depth, please do not take my lack of a personal response as a slight, or as a statement that your story is somehow unworthy of my time. Nothing, and I do mean nothing, could be further from the truth. If there was a way for me to respond to all of you at length, I would.
