 Some further clarification on this case...

This particular case of alleged child abuse involves a 60-year-old male teacher who has now been charged with molesting 5 students. According to police, videotape was found that showed at least one of the incidents was recorded. All incidents are reported to have occurred in the teacher's classroom.

The school board is now looking at changing their policies, changes such as requiring:
  • that the Board be notified of all investigations being conducted

  • that teachers leave classroom doors open when alone with a student
ALL school boards should have Risk Management Policies in place that are geared toward protecting children, as well as teachers, or any other person that is on the school premises who has contact with the students. When policies are not in place, children, teachers, and others who are in contact with students are placed at risk for abuse, for bullying and harassment, any misuse-of-power situations.
