I am so sorry this happened to you at the hands of someone who was responsible for keeping you safe. As for the guys at the party, I can tell you right now, you did NOT "let it happen". You were victimized by these assaulters, set up for more abuse by a sick and twisted man who was only interested in his own gratification. Yes you were vulnerable. But weak...? Not. Even. Close. You survived ALL of it, Leigh. That shows great strength.

I really get your pain and confusion and the feeling of givng up.... I had an abusive fathr and older brother.. I am trying to decide if I can reveal the truth to my favorite older sister about my brother`s behavior towards me. Does she need to know the whole story? I am considered the sickest member of my fammily becuase I `live in the past`... but the past lives in me like an alien parasite...

I like to pray finally. I say my Rosary every day and try to think good thoughts about God and His Creation...it helps..

Hi Leigh. Thank you for sharing your painful experience. Leigh you were never to blame for anything. You were a helpless child in the hands of a very sick man. As for your other abusers, please don't let them get away with it, even if it is long after the fact. This will help you take control of your life and put you on the healing path. Sweetheart, get help. Don't wait as long as I did. I waited over 40 years and now I realize just how much of my life was wasted living in fear and disgust at myself. Life can be a beautiful experience if we can learn to live with the past. I wish you health, happiness and healing.
